In 1992, Georg Riedel invited a distinguished panel of Zinfandel producers to join him for a series of workshops and tastings. Their aim was to develop the ideal glass shape to highlight all the nuances and complexity exhibited by Zinfandel.
The resulting shape, the Riedel Zinfandel glass, tempers the alcohol, accentuates the rich berry and spice characteristics of Zinfandel, while gently interweaving the acidity, tannin and fruit to create the perfect balance of components.
Recommended for: Alsace Grand Cru, Bardolino, Beaujolais Nouveau, Blauer Portugieser, Côtes de Provence, Côtes du Rhône rosé, Dolcetto, Grüner Veltliner, Jurançon Sec, Marsannay rosé, Montepulciano, Primitivo, Riesling, Riesling (spätlese/late harvest dry), Riesling Smaragd, Rosé, Scheurebe, Schilcher, Smaragd, Teroldego, Vernaccia, Welschriesling, Zinfandel.
VINUM became the first machine-made glass in history to be based on the characteristics of grape varietal. VINUM was not developed on a drawing board, but in tasting workshops based on the performance where the content commands the shape. The pleasure of enjoying fine wine starts with the right glass. VINUM is executed in crystal, machine blown in Bavaria, Germany.
